How To Keep Your Shower Screen Streak Free

Shower Screens are one of those gorgeous finishing accessories that are crucial for your bathroom interior. As well as bringing visual appeal to your bathroom, they also provide a practical benefit through creating a protective barrier against water. This ensures that no excess water spray or leaks can cause damage to the rest of your bathroom. They are also a much better alternative to Shower Curtains as they can be prone to mould, easily become discoloured and just aren’t as aesthetically pleasing as a glossy Screen. As Shower Screens are subjected to copious amounts of water multiple times a day, they can lose some of there gleaming appearance due to streaky watermarks and stains. This cannot be prevented completely but it can be easily maintained and managed. Lets talk about it!

One of our top tips, that you may already have within your kitchen cupboard, is to use white vinegar! Created from acetic acid, white vinegar is a powerful dissolvent of dirt, grime, mineral deposits and bacteria. We suggest filling a spray bottle with white vinegar, spraying it directly onto your Shower Screen and using a non-abrasive cloth to wipe. This method should have your Shower Screen looking streak free and sparkling in no time!

If the scent of vinegar in your bathroom is too much to bare, a more fragrant option would be to use lemon juice! All you have to do is mix the juice of three lemons and cup of distilled water, place your concoction into a spray bottle, spray onto your shower screen and leave for at least 5 minutes before wiping with a non-abrasive cloth. This will reveal a gleaming glass surface beneath and leave your Shower Screen looking brand new!

To help prevent the return of water streaks and stains, we suggest allowing your bathroom to air out after every use and manually drying your Shower Screen. After you have used your Shower there will be a lot of moisture in the air that will rest on your Screen creating streaks. To help avoid this, leave your windows and door open for up to 30 minutes after your wash to help water molecules escape. Another method you can try is to dry off your Shower Screen by hand. This can easily be done by using a clean, non-abrasive cloth or squeegee. Both work well to remove excess water from the surface of your Screen which will have a huge impact on the prevention of visible water marks. If you choose to use the cloth method you could also add a glass cleaning solution to this step to further ensure that no watermarks are left behind.
